Urge Arizona Governor Hobbs to ban unauthorized encampments on college campuses

Anti-Israel encampments on Arizona college campuses in the Spring of 2024 fostered a hostile environment where Jewish students faced harassment, exclusion, and intimidation. Without decisive action, these encampments could return, escalating antisemitism and endangering students. Urge Governor Hobbs to sign HB2880 into law immediately to ban unauthorized encampments and protect Jewish students from antisemitic harassment on campus.

To Governor Hobbs:

I am writing to urge you to sign HB2880 into law to prevent the return of antisemitic encampments on Arizona’s public university campuses.
In Spring 2024, anti-Israel encampments at Arizona State University and the University of Arizona created a dangerous environment where Jewish students were harassed, threatened, and excluded from campus spaces. Protesters targeted Jewish students with hate speech, blocked access to public areas, and created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation that disrupted campus life. Reports from students detailed instances of verbal abuse, harassment,  and even physical confrontations — yet little was done to protect them.
Signing HB2880 will send a clear message that Arizona stands against antisemitism and values the safety and dignity of all students. Jewish students deserve to feel secure on campus, free from fear and harassment. This bill is not just about maintaining order — it is about stopping the spread of antisemitism on our campuses. 
Please sign HB2880 into law to ensure Arizona universities remain safe, inclusive places of learning.
